Waste to Energy
Vertex LLC pioneers advanced waste-to-energy (W2E) solutions in Poland and across the EU by combining breakthrough gasification technology with sustainable energy generation practices. Our installations process Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)—even with high moisture content—into electricity and thermal energy, offering a scalable, low-emission alternative to landfilling.
Our Technology
At the core of our solution is a three-stage modular gasification system designed to:
- Process RDF with up to 75% moisture content — eliminating the need for pre-drying
- Operate continuously with minimal operator input and full automation
- Ensure zero emissions of dioxins and furans, with exhaust treated through multistage filtration
- Recover high-quality syngas, which is combusted to produce steam and drive high-efficiency steam turbines generating electricity on-site
Each unit can process up to 5 tons/hour and produce up to 5 MW of energy, making it ideal for small-to-mid scale landfills and industrial parks.
How It Works
- Feedstock Input
RDF is fed via conveyor into the gasification chamber. - Thermo-Oxidative Gasification
Waste is broken down at ~850°C in a sealed reactor using air injection, producing synthetic gas (H₂, CO, and trace hydrocarbons). - Energy Conversion
Syngas is combusted in a secondary chamber to produce heat, which powers a steam boiler. - Electricity Generation
The steam drives a turbine, covering internal energy needs or feeding the grid. - Emission Control
Emissions are filtered using wet scrubbers and chemical filters. The system meets EU Directive standards for air emissions. - Ash Recovery
Inert ash (~1.5% of feedstock) is collected and can be reused as a building material.
Project Spotlight: Poland
We are launching a multi-phase waste-to-energy facility at a landfill Poland. The site currently pays high landfill taxes and manages costly environmental obligations due to stored RDF. Our solution enables:
- Elimination of RDF disposal fees (up to €80/ton in landfill tax savings)
- Access to subsidies: up to €30/ton for RDF processing and €100/MWh for green electricity
- On-site power generation: displacing up to 1.2 MW of externally purchased electricity
Scalable, Bankable, Proven
Vertex LLC is also building a manufacturing base for modular W2E units (from 250 kg/h to 5 t/h) in Poland, with the ability to produce up to 100 units/year. These units are ideal for:
- Municipal waste processing
- Hazardous/medical waste destruction
- Agricultural and industrial waste utilization
- Remote site energy generation
Why It Matters
Poland landfills over 38% of its municipal solid waste and has accumulated over 340 million tons of waste—the highest in the EU. At the same time, it imports nearly half its energy and spends over €40 billion per year on energy needs.
Our W2E systems are part of a broader strategy to:
- Reduce MSW at landfills by 50% by 2035
- Reach 95% waste utilization
- Cut CO₂ emissions by 47 million tons
- Create 40,000+ jobs in green infrastructure
We help waste managers, municipalities, and private operators turn waste into a valuable, compliant, and profitable resource.
Let’s build a cleaner, energy-secure Poland—one landfill at a time.
